We are excited to announce that Dewey’s Brunch Breakfast raised $9,100 for minor hockey. Our goal was to honour Dewey’s legacy by giving underprivileged kids a chance to play. It’s not about talent. It’s about fun, fair play, teamwork and inclusion. Hockey is not a cheap sport. And being Canada’s national game, it absolutely sucks that too many kids have to “sit on the bench”. We are pleased to work with the Jed Ritcey Legacy Fund to ensure our goal is achieved. Accepting the cheque are Dave Ritcey and Bob Taylor. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported this cause, and to Willie’s team for volunteering their time and talents. Rest in peace, Dewey. You are loved and your spirit will forever sit at Roadside Willies. ... See MoreSee Less

September 26, 2020

To celebrate the life of our dear buddy, Randy “Dewey” Dewar, we considered many grand ideas. Unfortunately, COVID-19 put a snag in all of them. We have decided to keep it simple. Roadside Willies will be offering a premium quality brunch breakfast to support minor hockey. Dewey was a talented multi-sport athlete in his younger days, but was especially passionate about hockey. He was also a beloved coach to many local kids, so we figured supporting minor hockey, specifically kids who can’t afford to play, would be a great way to honor Dewey’s memory. Look at this brunch donation breakfast! Eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, pan-fried potatoes, toast and coffee for $20, and every cent goes to minor hockey. The Roadside team and a few friends are volunteering their time, and Willie is donating the product and facilities. Please bring the exact cash to throw in the pot. For an extra $5, you can add to the pot and raise a final “Cheers” to Dewey with a 14oz glass of Alex Keiths IPA. Now that’s a true Nova Scotia breakie!

This memorial fundraiser takes place on Saturday September 26, 2020. Due to social distancing, we will limit the number of dining donors at any one time interval. There will be three sittings: 9-10:30am, 10:30-12:00pm and 12:00-1:30pm, with a maximum of 50 people per sitting. There will be extra room on the patio if the weather cooperates. Reservations for the available time slots must be made by email to deweymemorial@wowfoodsystems.com so we can better manage the flow of people under Covid-19 restrictions. Can’t make it to the event, but still want to donate to the cause under Dewey’s name? No problem. You can drop off a cash donation at Roadside Willies, or use your credit card to make a donation by sending an email to the same address above indicating the amount you wish to donate. Rest easy, Dewey, knowing your friends will give some less fortunate kids an opportunity to play hockey under your banner. You will never be forgotten.
